Zero Waste Canada has joined an international group of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) working together to stop plastic pollution. We share the common values of environmental protection and social justice, and these shared values guide us to work building a world free of pollution.

Waves of plastic are choking life from our oceans and flooding our beaches with debris.

Scientists predict there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050. This devastating pollution problem not only effects marine biodiversity but also poses a risk to human health. While urgent action is needed to stop the proliferation of plastic pollution in all habitats around the globe, the problem continues to escalate. Industry and governments have so far failed to bring about the necessary changes required to solve the problem.

It is going to take all of us joining with others to create a movement   around the world implementing community-based solutions to create a world without waste and pollution.

It is going to take all of us to recognize we are part of the problem but by making simple changes we can be creating solutions. We will not be able to recycle our way out of the plastic pollution problem – we need to REFUSE and REDUCE.
