Take the Zero Waste Pledge
Our planet is facing major resource consumption and conservation issues.
Waste and climate change are closely linked. Not only is climate change a clear system of our over-consumption, it is also a result of our extreme levels of resource use.
As individuals we can make a difference, but when we come together we can create change.
Pursuing the Zero Waste vision is a significant opportunity to improve our environment.
The vision we are proposing is one of “ZERO WASTE” as defined by International Zero Waste Alliance (ZWIA). ZWIA’s definition is the first to be peer-reviewed and is the internationally accepted definition, it states:
“Zero Waste is a goal that is ethical, economical, efficient and visionary, to guide people in changing their lifestyles and practices to emulate sustainable natural cycles, where all discarded materials are designed to become resources for others to use.
Zero Waste means designing and managing products and processes to systematically avoid and eliminate the volume and toxicity of waste and materials, conserve and recover all resources, and not burn or bury them.
Implementing Zero Waste will eliminate all discharges to land, water or air that are a threat to planetary, human, animal or plant health.”
By pledging to adopt the ZWIA definition of Zero Waste as a guiding principle to shape attitudes and actions for creating a Zero Waste lifestyle, Zero Waste business, Zero Waste community and a Zero Waste world, we can achieve Zero Waste.
Because if you are not for Zero Waste, how much waste are you for?
