Zero Waste Canada has been offered a booth at this year’s Kitsilano Beach cleanup on World Cleanup Day (hear more about this from Let’s Do It World!), organized by the wonderful Surfrider Foundation Vancouver Chapter to educate the public about waste reduction (aka “zero waste”). We’ll also be participating in the cleanup itself, of course.

Why participate?

Everyone loves our Vancouver beaches, yet cigarette butts, styrofoam take-out containers, Starbucks cups, and more are constantly being left behind creating safety hazards for wildlife and destroying our environment. What doesn’t make it into a bin often ends up in the ocean, magnifying the negative impact on our environment.

It’s time to clean up after our selves (cleanup) and learn how to keep the environment clean (that’s what we’ll be talking about at our booth).

For the cleanup itself, bring your work gloves and a bucket so we’re not creating more waste while cleaning up the exiting one.
